Have a meeting next week with the social & need 3 months of recent bank statements. Can I blank out the outgoings? Not a big deal either way but don't really see why they need to see what I spend my money on

I'm sure they see it all the time, nothing to be ashamed of or need to hide away.

I used to pay the rent for the house from my account, and the lads would transfer it into my bank account. They used to put shocking stuff down as the notes. I remember handing my statement to the lad in the dole office and there was a payment in for €300 under 'analbeads.ie'. I could have killed my housemate.

It's usually 6 months worth of statements as far as I know, but if you've only been asked for 3 months fair enough

It's only to check for mysterious weekly lodgements that might imply a hidden employer. Or a feeder account that isn't being declared. Incomings not outgoings are the concern. Most civil servants are members of several lotto syndicates and one or two are banned from Cheltenham due to cheating at cards.
