Looking for opinions. We currently have Sky dsl broadband which is only 10 mb. We were told we would have fibre within a month when we signed up about 18 months ago. We still do not have this. We are out of contract with sky and I know it is not their fault that the exchange / lines in the area have not been upgraded.

Is virgin any good? I know the broadband advertised speed is 20 x faster than what I have now so I would presume that any of the streaming services we use would be much better too. What is the T.V. experience like? Can you get sky channels? for the likes of westwood etc. Do they have a box sets section? Honestly, most of our T.V. viewing is either box set of netflix.

on the broadband can you use peer to peer sharing and torrent programs?

    TIA

It's a no brainer, 10meg vs 360meg. Sky is better for TV but why suffer on 10meg when you can get up to 360 with Virgin.

I don't know Virgins situation with box sets but with Virgin you will have no access to Sky Atlantic, Eir Sports or BT Sports.

Switch to VM and get an android box...

Latest VM hardware isnt terrible but its not a patch on Skys.

    1. Sky
    2. Virgin
    17. Eir

    ?. Vodafone (New)

If you've a house of big TV watchers KEEP Sky TV and get Virgin BB only. Itll cost more but be much more enjoyable.

Thanks for replies, Work pay for my bundle so keeping it all together would be best. I'll see if anyone has virgin and have a look at the interface. The old Horizon box was a piece of dirt so I can only hope that the new boxes are a bit more reliable.

PM. any recommendations on an android box?

Pardon me for laughing at the idea that having only 10mb is suffering :D

Presumably then Eir fibre in the sticks at best only 20 to 30 mb ,often worse, compared to 100 or 200 is also suffering compared to VM

And VM customers are suffering compared to Siro :D

Seriously though,it is a no brainer to Move to VM if you're getting 10 times the speed in a bundle at a competitive price
