There is someone from my club doing a couple of the v70 events and looks to have some of the better qualifying times.

WTF is going on with the marathon qualifying times though, and where is my ticket for a trip to Perth? Surely GB can find a v40 bloke with a marathon time quicker than 3:22?!? There are at least two in my family who could beat that.

Whatever about participating in the heats, the guys winning medals are usually a pretty good standard. Obviously, not the best masters in the world (particularly at v35), but not to be sniffed at either.

Anyone can compete (provided you are of the correct age) and you pay your own way there, pay for your own accommodation, national team gear etc.

Some threat it very seriously and only want to go if they can compete. Others just use it as an excuse for a holiday. But seen as they are paying for the whole thing themselves they are more than entitled to do what they like.

Is the european masters the same?

Yes. And for the World indoor masters, European indoors, World Masters Games, European Masters Games (these are for all sports, not just athletics, though the standard is softer than the pure athletics ones).

Some pretty good destinations actually. Europeans are in Denmark next year, World indoors next year in Korea. From memory I think there's something in Venice in the next couple of years.

20 from Ireland competing with 2 of us from the club are heading out, myself this Thurs morning. Starting to look forward to the marathon now though will miss DM on Sun, it would have been my 10th in a row.

Racing 6am Nov 6th .Unfortunately in the M40 category though I’ll be 45 this Sat. Hoping to appeal that over there before race day. Not in PB shape (2:36) due to injuries that won’t go away but may have a chance at 2:39

    That's a lot of races.

What sort of temperatures are you looking at? I'd imagine it would be starting to get quite warm in Perth now.

Just coming out of their spring. Temperatures are up and down, Sun last had max of 29C ,today had top of 21.
Done some research last 5 years for Nov 6th +/- 3 days
So start is at 6am and temp can be expected around 10-12 C. 9am 15-19C

That's not too bad so. Fingers crossed the temps stay low. Best of luck.
