Say you were given the chance to time travel to a period in time and never return, whether it's yesterday or 3000 years ago, when would you travel to and why?

Personally I'd not risk creating a paradox that could destroy the universe, so I'd probably just venture back a few minutes and write something trite and mundane.

In this dimension, but time travel is likely to involve different dimensions where the time where you'd want to go to is where where the universe exists where you want it to be.

Otherwise, yeah - and not just the earth, you'd have to move the entire universe back to where the time you were traveling to existed. Good luck with that.

But maybe when you go back and buy your ticket you startle a butterfly, it flaps its wings, causes a disturbance in airflow that magnifies until it reaches the studio where the Euro Millions numbers are being drawn and causes the drum to rotate a minute amount more quickly, which means that different number balls get selected.

Oh yeah, and it causes a typhoon in Japan that kills a few thousand people....

That's the point I'm making. Getting struck by lightening twice has better probability than winning the lotto.

I'd go back a week and win the lotto too. There's no point going back in time because it just gets worse and worse the further back you go. Forward is a complete gamble, you could go forward a mere ten years and find the world completely destroyed, or you could go forward 100 years and find people so different you have no place in their society.

I'd go back to yesterday 3 pm....had my ritual sneaky burger after doing some shopping....usually get whopper with bacon and cheese but stupid picture made me choose the Angus....forgot it had smokey sauce on it and a crap bun.....put me in a mood for hours!

I remember reading something in the newspaper a few years back that a fella was stopped at the LHC claiming to be from the future and wanting to stop it from being destroyed. Someone made a great point "How could he have travelled back to the past if the future was destroyed?" If it was a hoax you can't argue with that point either way even if it is true.
