No water / very low pressure

    Griffin Rath Manor in Maynooth is experiencing periods of no water or very low pressure since yesterday.

    Their contact centre are not aware of any issues in the area. Numerous complaints have been raised to them but updates have not been forthcoming.

    Water storage tanks are depleted and as a result residents have no toilet facilities or hot water to wash.

    It's no coincidence that a mains rehab project is taking place at the moment:

    Irish Water commence work on €50,000 Maynooth Water Main Rehabilitation Project

    Irish Water commenced work on Monday, 17 October on the Maynooth water main rehabilitation advance works project. The €50,000 project will replace aging water mains, improve the water pressure to homes and businesses and improve the security of the water supplies to in the Dublin Road area of Maynooth. The project is expected to take two weeks to complete and will be carried out by David Walsh Civil Engineering.

    My comments have nothing to do with water rates, for or against but DCC responded much quicker to issues like this

    These works should not be affecting the supply to properties in Maynooth.

    We would be happy to look into this for you. Would you mind sending the following details through private mail:

    - Name;
    - Address; and
    - Contact number.

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards,

    Water was eventually restored by Kildare CoCo staff at approx. 2pm on Saturday. There emergency helpline reported a valve had been left off by "a contractor", leaving hundreds of properties without water. They did not confirm if it was related to the rehab works mentioned above.

    I, along with a number of neighbours reported the issue to the Contact Centre (Abtran) and there was no sense of urgency whatsoever from the CSA's. Nobody received a call back from them and when repeated calls were made to them, no information was available.

    For unplanned interruptions, we and/or our agents (including Local Authorities) will ensure regular information updates are provided, which will be communicated and publicised through a range of communication channels. Information in relation to such interruptions will be made available to customers through our phone helplines and posted on our Twitter feed @IWCare

    The fact that it took nearly twenty hours to respond to several hundred properties being left without water is extremely poor service.
