That show had a very limited budget so effectively was done on the cheap by an independent production company. Via Conor Pope, they put out a call a few months ago for people to come forward about rogue traders in the motor trade so I contacted them with details of a few operators whom I knew had ripped off me and friends of mine with inflated and unnecessary parts replacements and 'repairs'.

What I suggested they do was to get an ordinary car which was due a routine service, say 7 years old. Have it checked out from tip to toe by a reputable mechanic and then submit it for a service or a pre-NCT inspection to any one of several (named by me) auto shops to see what happened. I exchanged e-mails with them and I spoke to one of the production team on the phone but it quickly became clear a sting operation along the lines I was suggesting was not what they had in mind. They started talking about clocked cars at which point I realised that they wanted the case to be presented to them on a plate, after the event i.e. not involving any expense on their part. So I said there was no point in discussing it further and we left it at that.

Anyone watch this, basically investigating clocked cars, it showed what idiots consumers are not doing basic cheap and free checks when purchasing cars...
