Most probably not - you can only currently pre-order Chromecast Ultra at this stage: www.google.com/intl/en_ie/chromecast/

Not available on Tesco direct for that price. Still at £28.50. Pity.

They're going very cheap on ebay. This is the lowest I've ever seen them:

Google Chromecast (1st Generation) €7.99 delivered

Google Chromecast (2nd Generation) €9.99 delivered

The only reservation I would have is the seller only has 41 ratings and all are over 1 yr ago .... now suddenly they've got a shedload of very keenly priced products ... approach with caution.

Ah paypal is always good in these cases.

No chance of those being honoured. Look at realistic sellers, still decent prices.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,136 ✭✭✭Moanin

Do they have power leads included for that price I wonder? They maybe the 2 pin if included...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,037 ✭✭✭SteM

But you'll have to get it delivered to Parcel Motel.

    Took a punt. Ordered one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭RossieMan

Seeing as all the products have now been removed. I'd say you've all wasted your time with the seller.

Too good to be true and all that I suppose.

Man, they got wiped out fairly quickly!

Probably should have bought another one myself...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 99 ✭✭Alan McG

    Yeah, that's a scam alright.

Listed from a compromised account. Sorry for the post.

I took a punt too - do we contact PayPal for the refund ? Or does it happen automatically ?

EDIT - I actually went into my PayPal account and the payment was still pending - I was able to cancel it

Just log onto your paypal account, go to the transaction and just cancel it. They don't seem to have collected the payment so there shouldn't be any bother.

I've seen the chromecast audio player go on sale but not the full version.

My payment is complete, shall I go to the resolution centre you think?

For anyone looking to do alot of mirroring on these, I find the original version works alot better, v2 on wireless AC is very buggy on my Samsung s7 edge still, and has to be optimised pair device.

Only other difference I found was V2 loads maybe 2 or 3 seconds faster using all cast

If I have a stereo with an Audio in then is the Chromecast Audio one of the better solutions for converting it to act as a player for our phones at home? And if we're using Spotify does the signal stream from phone to Chromecast to speaker? Or does the phone just instruct the Chromecast Audio to connect direct to Spotify via your home WiFi? And second part of this question - is the Chromecast Audio the best solution for getting spotify into my home stereo?

I use Google music and it's pretty good. Will be much the same with Spotify I'd imagine. It replaced Bluetooth for me in my living room.

I think the way it works is to send the relevant info to your Chromecast and the Chromecast then contacts the server to stream. I can't use Google music to stream MP3 files that are only on my phone, for example. It can be problematic when it's been playing for a while and your phone loses track of what song is playing, but it's generally pretty good.

Don't mean to dampen anyone's experience or expectations, but have to throw in my personal tuppence.

Personally speaking I have 2 chromecasts at home gathering dust.

That's since I got an Amazon Firestick.

    Separate remote control.
    Kodi to stream whatever.
    YouTube for the kids.
And then Localcast for casting everything else.
Plus I don't need a separate device tied up to cast from either... Localcast frees up my phone once cast has started.

    Superior IMHO.

Sorry don't mean to start a flame war!

+1 for Chromecast Audio. Picked one up for twenty quid in Currys earlier in the year and mostly use it to stream Spotify on my home audio system.

And yes, the Chromecast unit streams directly from the Spotify server so your mobile is just acting as a remote - which makes it so superior to Bluetooth.

If you want to cast mp3s from your phone/tablet install es file explorer and the es chromecast plugin. Highlight the mp3s you want to play in es file explorer, press More, press Play To and choose your chromecast from the list. Works for me.
