I have the Sky+ HD box. its about a year old, its a black box.

I am subscribed to HD and paying something like 7 euro a month extra for that.
If I was to cancel this HD subscription, do I still get some channels in HD regardless?

If so, does anyone know which ones I would get in HD?

bbc, cnn, s4c, but if you take out take card and select hd chanels on tv guide then cycle through, also you can add others like bbcnews hd.

I think as he's only cancelling the HD sub as opposed to his Sky sub he should still be able to get RTE 1 & 2 in HD although the position on the EPG could change. Maybe I read that wrong when Sky started broadcasting those channels in HD but I think they remain available in HD

Sky still transmit RTE 1 & 2 in SD so is that all that is available without HD sub?

    Hi, to clarify.

I am still with sky as a TV customer and have all their equipment and pay my monthly sky bill etc.

the HD package is 7 euro a month and I am just cancelling that part of it.

Will I get any channels in HD with the above cancelled?

RTE1 & 2 HD can be viewed without a HD sub. I just had that confirmed on live chat.

If anyone doesn't want to believe that then ask in the Sky Talk To forum

Yep. I have a SKY SD subscription and a HD box. You get RTE 1 & RTE2 in HD on 101 & 102. You need a subscription for TV3 HD.

I have a HD sub so I really cant look to see whats available. The post by In the old days confirms also about RTE 1 & 2 available in HD so you would need someone like that to check or as I stated earlier ask the question in the Sky Talk To forum :)

Have a flick through the HD section on the on the Sky Guide and you should see the HD channels that are free to air. Most of them are news channels but the free to air HD entertainment channels are BBC1HD,BBC2HD, E4 HD and Film4 HD. Through other channels function you can get Channel 4HD, Channel5 HD and ITV One HD. You can also get 5 star, 5usa, My 5 and Spike again in sd.These are all free to air. ITV 2,3 AND 4 are also available in sd but are not available in HD here only in the UK.
