Quick question. I have just noticed the wrong return flight was booked.

Does travel insurance cover the cost of changing flight time?

Defo, probably get you your own plane, or helicopter, if it's a short journey. Ring them immediately.

    Harsh, but I laughed.

The ring them immediately bit is good advice. The airline, not the insurer. Have you only just booked it? If so they may be a bit more forgiving.

Who made the error in booking it?

If only there was a 'Travel' forum you could ask in

Almost a month ago, unlikely airline will do you any favours but you could try.

As for whether your travel insurance will cover it, that's entirely dependent on your policy but I can't for the life of me imagine any policy that would.

Yes, you could have gone there! (See what I did there?)

    Or simply checked your policy.

It also depends which airline you're travelling with. They have different polices regarding changes.

Ryanair or any other budget airline; probably cheaper to book a newer flight.

Any other traditional airline may have different policies.

Ring Aer Lingus, they have a number on the website.

You can also manage your booking up to 2 hours before travelling online. Don't let it go under that 2 hour limit though, I found out the hard way.

Call airline and get the price for changing flight, also check online yourself what the cost would be to book the return flight now, go with cheaper option.

They are looking for 201 euro to change the time of flight

How much is it to book a flight for the day you want?

You can claim the tax back from the original flight and book a new one.

They (AL) have an "administration fee" that is randomly very similar in amount to the tax rate applied to flight price when you look for a refund.

I checked the flights again. Same price as the flights I booked already with the different return flight time

Have you looked at the cost of upgrading your ticket to a 'Flex Fare'? You can change the flight times on flex fare tickets.

If I remember correctly it's one of the options when you log into the Aer Lingus website to manage your booking.

If it was your error - tough luck. Might be cheaper to buy a new flight. Looking for your insurance to cough up because you had the wrong details entered is a cop out. Take it on the chin and learn for next time.
