    Hi,

It looks like injector number 4 might have an injector seal leak. If you look below the silver nut and pipe just behind the oil filler cap, is there black crud and gunk?

This would suggest that the combustion gasses are leaking past the injector seal. Sometimes you can get an exhaust type smell in the car if you are stopped at traffic lights. You can also hear a little "puff puff puff" noise when the car is idling.

If it is an injector seal, expect the seal to cost about 4 euro, and maybe 80euro to have it fitted. Do it sooner rather than later though, the 1.6HDI engine does not like dirty oil, and a leaking injector seal will cause carbon from the engine to get pushed past the seals and into the oil.

    Ken

It could also be a leaking turbo hose. It would be the one just infront of the oil filler cap. If there is a leak, it will cause a loud whoosing noise when the car is revved.

Higuys thanks for that. There is a smell of fumes alright sometimes in the car.
