Do you have life assurance?

I was chatting with friends the other day and I was asking about their life assurance policy, I was curious what everyone was paying and the expected payout. I was a bit shocked none of them had it, most of us are nearly 30 or over with kids.

I had a kid and GF (now wife) at 21 so I took one out then, the lads thought I was very strange. I sleep better at night anyway.

Do you have one? I know it is seen as a gamble like.

I have it as one of the benefits work give us. Death in service. Pays out 4 times annual salary.

I have this Also, wife has something similar (slightly better mine though) and we also own our own home (well, mortgaged up)

I'm happy enough my affairs would reasonably be in order should the unthinkable ever happen. My kids should be ok.

Tell you what. If I pop my clogs the mortgage will be cleared (thru mort protection policy) and the wife gets the pension fund and the life assurance. She will be well compensated for her 'loss'.

I need to keep been nice to her...and make sure there is no rat poison nearbye when she gets mad at me.

I've got life assurance. Someone rings me once a month and tells me I'm alive.

Thinly veiled 'When I die people will miss me' thread :(

I have a friend with benefits, I assume one of the benefits is life insurance.

Yes but it is life assurance for the bank in case I die and the bank wanted it so they would get paid.
It made sense for everyone, and the bank required it, leaving loans for others to pay is not a nice thing to leave a loved one.
