Hard pressed to tell the difference tbh, but sure i know BMW have incrementals over like 3 lifecycles of a vehicle. usually lights first and then some other minor changes.

Very little change but why would they?

The Germans in general are gone very conservative in their designs in recent times, evolution rather than revolution seems to be game these days with the accountants who don't want to rock the boat.

One thing I do hate though is these infotainment touchscreens that sit on top of the dashboard rather than integrate with it.

I seen it this morning on FB.
Subtle changes and you can see the design of the 3 series in it.
Going to the launch on Saturday in Elm Park Golf Club so will see what it's like in the flesh.

Business as usual then. I didn't like Bangles work but at least he shook things up for a while, this is really tedious.

Full launch is today so we will know more later.

His e60 msport was a thing of beauty though.

    Agreed. Integrated a lot nicer.

I actually think it looks a whole lot more modern.

No huge changes. I guess they know what sells best. Little bit boring though. At certain angles the rear reminds me of the Honda Accord. I'm not a fan of the chunky new grille surround or the hockey sticks on the side of the doors. I do like the new tail lights though and I'm looking forward to seeing it for real and most importantly having a test drive.

yeah, not a fan of the exhausts as similar to Merc which in turn remind me of the 2nd gen Santa Fe and i40.
I heard one comment that xenon are phased out with Halogen as default and upgrade to LASER/LED.
I find it hard to believe though especially with BMW getting extremely poor light ratings last year for their Halogen and some of their Xenon kits.

Xenons are standard kit in this segment these days with the option to upgrade to LED. Xenons have been standard on the F1x since around mid 2013 so I'd doubt they will be downgrading to halogen on the G3x. Going back to halogen as standard would be a step backwards.

What's the point - looks more like an LCI facelift rather than new model...

The e60 and f10 were both gorgeous designs, ahead of their time and vast improvements on the previous model.

    This is just....meh.

Also agree on the touchscreen I hate the new BMW and Audi design of sticking them on top of the dash rather than integrate into the dash as well as the fact the centre dash seems to "stop" before the gear changer and then resumes - current F10 has the screen fully integrated and flows nicely down all along to the centre armrest so the centre console is one unit which I love - like the current Porsche centre console design. These new ones are a step back I think.

The screen thing could be all down to ergonomics and trying to have it as close to eye level as possible I'd say.

I think Mercedes are ahead of most of this sector stylewise.
The A6 in Avant form is also very well proportioned.

Rear light cluster has been fixed. Really looks wrong in current model with 2 levels on lights from boot to car edge.

Should have some pictures of it tomorrow night, if they let me take some. I think it looks good, a bit better proportioned than the 7. The dash looks very cheap though.

I didn't like the stick up screen either to start however after using the screen in a recent bmw x5 for a day or so, I have to say it is really so much better. The new placement makes it a screen you touch and use rather than one you look at. The bmw system I that x5 was quite stunning to be honest.

The front is an improvement but I agree with others here, it's hardly a new looking model. And the last one was pretty conservative too. Makes it even more amazing how fresh the 14 year old E60 still looks. Now that was innovative design (admittedly I didn't like it at all at the time myself :p)

Ditto. I'm going tomorrow morning. I wonder will they have any more detailed info about the hybrid.

Do you think? I think it looks way nicer. I really hate the cheap nasty looking plastic that's on both side of the idrive screen in the current cars.

Personally I think it's a huge improvement over the F10 everywhere. The F10 is a really hateful car. The back of the new car is plain and non-offensive but the front is massively better. It's lost the piggy nostrils of the F10

I dont know what it is about the area below the screen that I dont like, just the layout with the silver surround accents and lcd hvac displays, just looks like Chinese aftermarket equipment. No doubt i'll be won over when I sit in it.

I wonder if the quilted seats will be standard like on the 7.

The one to go for 0 to 60 in 6 seconds and will be priced competitively with the tax rebate.

"Badged as the 530e iPerformance, BMW’s latest hybrid uses a detuned version of the driveline found in the X5 xDrive40e, with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor delivering a combined output of 248bhp and 310lb ft of torque. It boasts a 0-62mph time of 6.2sec together with claimed 141.2mpg fuel consumption and 46g/km CO2 rating."

Looks little different to the current model from my perspective, and agree about the touchscreen comments above - looks very "tacked on". I'm not convinced about touch screens in cars anyway, especially one you'd have to reach for while driving. I can see it becoming the next thing they start saying is distracting drivers (like mobiles)

The cheapest 518d auto F10 lists at €47k. If the new model 530e lists at about the same (net of subsidy), it would be a very attractive proposition for an Dublin area based owner

Nothing changes. Still in boring safe colour

The car pictured is 540i m sport with many extras. Another German car that looks like most of us could have styled it, but not offfensive.
A standard se model in non metallic black on 17" wheels with the smaller nav screen and regular seats will be more representative of what will be on our roads and that will be pretty hum drum but existing owners will be happy.

I'd be the exact opposite. F10 OK but E60? I'd take the E39 over it any day. Both design wise and the rest of it too.

Ah now - the e60 design was light years ahead, even today on the roads it looks very modern despite being, what 13 years old IMO.

    Cannot agree with that argument...

Essentials should be either in the instrument cluster or in the HUD. VW is doing excellent displays now, with the navigation clues etc just in front of your eyes.

Infotainment system should not be used during driving...
