Hey I was wondering if someone could give me their opinion on this situation.
I have an interview tomorrow for a 6 month contract role.
My partner is due in mid March. I would like to take some paternity leave when my little poop is here.
If they ask If I have anything coming up during the time there, like holidays or in my case baby. Should I be up front about it or not?
The job is an area I would really like to get into.

    Thanks!

If they ask, yes, you absolutely need to be up-front about it.

Careful not to take it too early as in book holidays from the due date...wait until it arrives if you can or when there due home from the hospital the time off will be more use to you then. If your going private she might be in hospital for a week depending on how it goes.
You'll neee family on stand by if it's a C section she won't be over that in 2 weeks.

    Absolutely tell them..congratulations.

yes tell them, its one of those things people panic about in an interview thinking that you wont get the job because you have a holiday or like yourself baby on the way.

Its mainly so they can schedule stuff.

depending on when the roll starts im guessing in the next month or so that means the contract would be ending the month after the baby is due.

depening on if its a project or just mat cover or something it might be okay.
if not its not the job for you.

best of luck with baby :-)

Were going public, and if everything goes well she wants to be out of the hospital asap. Fingers crossed.

Yeah that makes sense, was getting a little bit freaked at the thought of it.

And thanks, I'm sure I'll need all the luck!

youll be grand, most compaines (that i know of the bigger ones or ones with an understanding boss) will let you book flexible leave for baby time, that means if mommy does go over and youve booked the 1 march off that you can still take it if baby doesnt make an appearance till the 15th march for example...
