Looking to Identify this - 1930's Car Radio?

Hi - I have this in my 'to do' pile a while - I was going to rework it to be a radio that will play again - someone suggested it might be an old car radio?

So would any of you have seen one of these before? I'm looking for what the original cover would have looked like - the one that I suspect went over the valves and battery compartment?

I was thinking of adding a small modern valve amp with an fm radio and not powering but lighting the old existing valves from underneath.

Any other info on this would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

That image worked - it doesn't look like an older car radio I've seen, as they've been two part affairs.

It does look quiet like this? From http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/ducretet_radiovalise.html
