Any one got any idea what's being constructed in Douglas Court SC?

The site where the dance school was being prepared for construction work, I had a look at the planning notices .....a restaurant?

Strange more building considering the empty units in the village.

I think that is the new fast food restaurant with a drive through. They had planning notices on the pedestrian entrances during the year (but not anywhere else where someone might get a chance to look if you had driven in). Heard it may be a KFC? Not sure. The owners (bought from NAMA) previously applied for planning to alter the SC site on the delivery side of it, don't think they got that.

    This guy doesn't :pac:

A Burger King outside of the city would do well I think. I honestly don't know how KFC does business in Ireland, eaten there twice and don't think there'll ever be a 3rd time

Isn't Douglas the biggest suburb of Cork?

The amount of fast food places in Douglas is getting out of hand. There must be 20 different fast food places at this stage. A drive through KFC is the last thing we need.

    Agreed,
I also hear that a new restaurant is opening in tramway terrace as well

Echo the sentiments about Douglas not needing more fast food places.

Given the location, if the drive thru is busy at peak times, traffic could spill out on the road causing issues and thats the ;last thing Douglas needs, more traffic.

I'm not sure on the lay out of the car parking or how many spaces they'll have, nonetheless, another fast food outlet wasnt needed, IMO.

A drive through KC's would be good tho. No more queuing in the rain.

That's from 2011 data. Thought i saw that ballincollig was the fastest growing town in the country there last year, and and overtaken everything else.

I wonder is the new cso data out.

Fair enough but it seems unlikely that it would grow by 75% in 5 years.

Speaking of new restaurants - there's a new Asian food restaurant on Church Street; between the St Vde Paul shop and the Polish shop.
It's called Kubo; doesn't seem to have a website
(More chance of my visitng Kubo than a KFC I'd say.)

That was mentioned earlier on the restaurant rec thread. The website is http://www.kubo.ie

Ate there last week. Was very good. Portion sizes are large. Kids loved it which really helped.

Unfortunately I agree. Went there with the family last weekend, we thought it was great, nice food and prompt service, mainly because it was empty.
Its location is on the edge of the village alright but I really hope it continues.

    1. It's not a Wrap
    2. It's Supposed to have chips
    3. Did you order a chicken one
    4. KC's is awesome

April 2017 is the opening date of the KFC according to this job advert. I assume it's the new Douglas KFC they are referring to.

You have to pick a quiet time... anyway, back on topic... is the space between the petrol station and Dunne's going to be developed? Will anything be done with the big empty bank building? I think it was to be a Wetherspoons but it fell through?
