    Hi,

I was pulled over by a Garda about six weeks ago for doing 80 on the Naas Rd which is mostly a 60 zone. I've not received anything in the post about it yet.
My main question is though, the Garda didn't ask to see my licence thus not getting my Driver Number which as far as i know they are supposed to if they pull you over. Do you think that it was a mistake on his part or is there still time for the notice to arrive?

Plenty of time. I'd expect the worst tbh.

How did the conversation go? Seems pretty odd they didn't ask you to produce a license. They can still issue a fine but would be pretty sloppy not to at least check the person driving was fit to do so.

He just asked where I lived and then said I should know the limit on it as I use it every day. I don't usually speed on it but was trying to get past someone who was driving about 30kmh when I saw him with the speed gun.

How long did the whole process take? Unless he spent several minutes writing in his book or keying into a console it's unlikely you'll hear anything.

Only a few minutes. The only think he did was check my tax and insurance discs as far as i can remember.

I'd guess he decided to leave you off with a warning

He doesn't need the driving licence number to issue the fine. The fine can be issued within 6 months.

I know of someone who was recently stopped on a Saturday and had received their letter by the following Thursday if that helps.
