I'm living in a highly residential suburb of Limerick, not in the back arse of nowhere so don't be telling me I have it better than some culchie who lives up the side of the mountain..

    Now....

I'm paying €40.69 a month for broadband that is a quarter the speed of my mobile's 4G connection. A wired broadband connection SLOWER than a 4G over air connection!!

How is this acceptable? because magnet has a monopoly with their 30 day no-contract broadband in my area, so why bother deliver a better service if there is no competition, right??

Fŭck you Magnet! broadband should be regulated in such a way where you pay a fraction of the cost if you only get a fraction of the advertised speed, ISP's would be quick to improve their lines.

    Fatpipe Fibre 24MB MY ARSE!

In Bloomfield, Annacotty. I plan to emigrate early next year so 12/18month contracts are out of the question. My only no contract option is Magnet.

I would love to switch to Virgins new 30 Day contract but they don't serve this estate. The estate across the road "Glenside" has been set up with UPC/Virgin for years. I don't get why this estate was skipped..

I used them in Donabate as there was no UPC at the time, and I don't provide direct custom to Eir. Unfortunately they were using the Eir infrastructure to provide.

Extortionate pricing as there was no competition in the area, €67 for a 24adsl line that never worked in my 12 months there. Ended up going through small claims court and received most of the costs of the year back.

Magnet to their credit, where pretty fine to deal with and continued to drop the price down until I was paying like €15 on my last bill. They consistently pointed the finger at Eir who seemed more interested in their next gen rollout at the time as opposed to sorting issues. The last line I got from them was that I'd be provided Next Gen broadband as part of that rollout and be looked after in terms of getting a discount.

Eir just rolled out 30% activation in the area, marked it finished and moved on. So was pretty livid and ended up just taking a case against them which was ruled in my favour.

I'd already being totally against Eircom from another shambolic display and issues they caused me when I first got internet back in 2000, but this just compounded I wouldn't ever go near them again and ensure to the best of my ability family and friends stayed away.

If you have a really low sync speed then its not Magnet's fault, Its just you're line is dodgy or you are too far from the exchange.
