Diamond cert question

    Hi

I am currently shopping for my engagement ring and think I have found the one. It is a 1ct round brilliant solitaire. I called into the shop today to try on again and have a look at the cert. I noted that on the cert it only gave two dimensions (6.30 x 4.00mm) as opposed to 3 dimensions which I have seen on the certs I have viewed online. Is this unusual? I'm assuming that the dimensions given are diameter x depth rather than two diameters which would make it nearly oval?! My head is a bit wrecked from the process which I thought was going to be so much fun! I think I have definitely gotten into too much detail and should have just gone with what looks good.

    Thanks

    Is it a GIA Cert?

Check to see if the cert is issued by GIA. If it isn't then the certification isn't worth much anyway.

I went with a different ring in the end. Think the cert for that particular ring was IDGL

    What a load of nonsense.

A bit of an exaggeration sure but there are very few internationally recognized well respected labs.

There's more then one however whichb makes a mockery of your post. GIA snobbery is the type of advice that unnecessarily ends up costing people money.

The cert would only matter if you thought there was a market for second hand engagement rings, which there isn't.
