Temporary oven solution

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has an opinion on the following.

We are just about to move into a newly bought house. The house previously had a freestanding cooker which has been removed but the space left. In the not too distant future we plan to do some work on the kitchen and at that point would likely opt for a built in (double) oven. So we're not mad about the idea of needing to buy a freestanding cooker to keep us going until then but that's all we can fit in the kitchen for now. The default option was to just buy something cheap to keep us going (or maybe secondhand if find someone reliable) but we just had the idea would it be possible to buy a built in oven and install it in a temporary unit (built or bought) at floor level, effectively creating a temporary freestanding oven which we can then build in once we do the work on the kitchen. Obviously we need to factor in a job seperately too but that should be less of an issue.

So that was a bit long winded and hopefully made sense but I suppose I'm just wondering are there any reasons that this wouldn't be possible or wouldn't be recommended? Practical reasons or safety reasons etc. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

It's possible. You could buy an ikea 600mm wide cabinet in the height you need and screw it into that. You will need to attach it to your wall obviously and cover the top of it. It's not gonna look amazing though. Then you have the wiring to think about.
What are you gonna do for a hob though?

For the sake of a few weeks you could probably get by with a halogen oven and tefal portable iinduction hobs which can be gotten very cheap and will do the trick and may even come in useful if you having parties in the years to come

Or just buy a reconditioned cooker for 200e problem solved. Messing about otherwise! Sell it on again when you build your new kitchen

A microwave oven? Will you be getting a microwave anyway?
