Case ih 1056 xl jumping out of gear

    Hi guys i have a case ih 1056 xl which is jumping out of high in every gear,in low and reverse it is fine,i was told it was a little ball bearing which has wore.Any have any info how big a job it would be.Thanks

    hi there.the ball you were told about is probably on the shift rail the slot for the ball in the rail could have a bit of wear,the detent springs in the high range synchro could have gone weak also the wear pieces in that grear's selector fork might be worn too,its a big enough job,cab has to come off,split the tractor at the clutch housing,the front end of the box has to come off,if its weak synchro springs you will have to strip the entire box as the range gears are at the back of the box.i have to do the same job on my 956 in the next couple of weeks.

    I had a similar issue with a 956 but it was a combination of worn cab mounts, gear linkages and selector gubbins ................
