    Good morning,

Just wondering is a Teagasc Advisor the person I am looking for?

Farming on a hobby scale at the moment, 12 acres, 50 breeding ewes.

Am very close to buying 25 acres around the corner from me and starting to do a bit more.

I have no SFP and know nothing about it as never really looked too hard with the land I have. This land has payments on it, so now I need to get more informed.

So again, is a Teagasc Advisor for more information who I am looking for or should I be going a different route?

    Thanks

Any Ag advisor will be able to take you through it.

I presume you have a full time job aswell
An accountant would be useful also

Yea I have business on the side which are low labour input which gives me a good bit of time.

Accountant has been doing farm books for last 2 years, but other business accounts for a lot longer, wouldn't have great experience from thr farm background I would imagine but wouldn't change.

Regards advisers, would you know do I contact teagasc or try contact my local adviser directly?

    Thanks

Contact your local office and ask for the sheep advisor or his number. They should be able to meet you and discuss what you want from them and what they can do for you and how much it would cost and decide if it suits you from there. The same would apply for a private advisor.

The big advantage of using Teagasc would be access to research which might benefit you. Both would have experience of doing the paperwork needed for applying for the BPS, ANC and the ewe premium application coming soon worth 10euro a ewe.
