Probably a silly question but when renting an apartment how much is generally paid upfront? Obviously a deposit but is the first months rent due when moving in?
Thanks in advance for any assistance?

yep, 1month rent + deposit (which is 1 months rent as well)
I've heard of some places looking for 2, 3 months rent upfront but generally it's 1 month+deposit

At the very least it's first month's rent and a deposit of another month. It's becoming more common now for a higher deposit to be sought. Up to three months in some cases.

So you're then always paying rent for the following month?

I collect rent on the 1st of every month. And that's payment for that month. You pay in advance. It's like going into the curry shop, you order and pay. You get your food then when it's cooked.
