Hi all I'm looking at bringing a pre registered renault master crew cab in from the UK and I'm just wondering if this will fall into the 200 euro rate for the vrt? And if I will have to pay the vat on it... thanks

    That will be 13.5% VRT.

Sounds like it will be liable for VAT as well, but you can reclaim the UK VAT so there isn't a huge difference there

Don't you also need a certificate of conformity too since recently?

Is it not car type vans and jeeps that are subject to the 13.5%? Thanks

Commercials that don't leave the factory as 2 or 3 seaters, or something along those lines, is the difference between €200 and 13.5% VRT.

Probably a good idea to have the Certificate of conformity anyway.

Rather than start another thread I'll put this here....

Can someone clarify what the VRT rate is on one of these?

Is it 13.3% or is that for the crew cab version?

LR Discovery 4 - 2 Seat Commercial VRT

I'd say that's 13.5% VRT as well as it didn't leave the factory that way, but to be honest the rules around this seem to be very confusing and have changed a lot in the past few years.

Disco 4 was never officially sold as a 2 seat commercial in Ireland. There are a couple I know of, but not many at all. Looks like a nice bus.

The master crew cabs come from the factory now ready. What is the cert of conformity?

Master Crew Cab does come from the factory, but as it's 7 seats rather than 3 it doesn't get €200 VRT.

Certificate of Conformity is issued for every new model sold. Think each vehicle gets one, but no idea what happens to them. It's a bit like a VLC but with lots more info on and frequently in a foreign language.

If it isn't in the vehicle then you can request one - generally quicker to go straight to the importer for that model (in this case Renault Ireland). Can cost up to €200 and take a few days to come through.
