Hi guys. I think I might be late to party but I have just heard that above scheme might be applicable to work I carried out on my house. The problem is the work was carried out already (2015). I had a new heating system fitted and insulation. I claimed the under the better energy home scheme at the time so I know I can only claim for tax relief minus the grant amount but can I claim retrospectively?

Also how do I know my contractors are HRi compliant...I recall they had to be tax cleared to get the energy grant??

    Any advice welcome

Basically, you are supposed to have all checked out prior to even hiring the contractor.

The contractor has to be VAT registered, and the work or installations charged at the rate of 13.5%. In agreement with the contractor, you can claim via the HRI interface on the revenue website.

But the contractor has to enter the details of the work online first. So, if you have not agreed this before hand, it might be hard to get them to agree to it now
