    The race thread,

Anyone else up watching FP1? I had planned to watch it in bed after 4 hours sleep but anyway got up instead.

Big drama t the beginning of FP1 for one of the big teams and the season has been red flagged.

EDIT: They are just going back out now again.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Wait, what. It's actually on at a reasonable NZ time. Damnit, I'm in work, hope the auto record picked it up.

EDIT: Woohoo live race finally! 8pm start

Qualifying starts in just under an hour the pre show is on now. Red Bulls looking good as Max Verstappen was 2nd fastest in P3. Lewis 1st. Rosberg was third and Ricccardo in 6th. Is normal service going to resume for quilifying or are we going to get a mixed up grid. I hope the grid is mixed up would make for a more exciting race not that Malaysia is ever boring anyway as it is one of the most exciting race tracks on the calender.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

This is the quietest I've ever seen a race thread - a sign of the times

Yes very quiet in here. A pity as the Qualifying was quiet good. Am hoping its a good race tomorrow this is my favorite F1 track. Want to see a good battle between Nico and Lewis maybe like the one in Bahrain a few years ago. Think the Mclarens should both get into the points tomorrow.

Alonso might need a good start if he's to get points

How Mercedes get off the grid might decide the race, race that Mercedes didn't win last year, so I guess you never know. Rain not looking likely

Pity to see Massa having issue after having good qualifying

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

Not looking good for Massa already, hope they get him started

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

And Palmer sounds like he's in trouble too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

    Foooook!

Strange to get yellows on grid and then they start the race

Wonder if Rosbergs car is damaged or not

Rosberg could pit if he's at the back, although not free stop under virtual safety car

Don't think he's damaged. Tyres could be wrecked though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

That reminds me of what Verstappen did in Spa. Rosberg with a mountain to climb now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,474 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Might be interesting to see how the two redbulls end up

Will Max get a better strategy or get ahead of Daniel

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

    Alonso going very well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

    Puncture for Massa

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,977 ✭✭✭TheDoctor

    Alonso from last to ninth

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,977 ✭✭✭TheDoctor

    This will mix it up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,977 ✭✭✭TheDoctor

This could work out great for Max

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

There are battles everywhere I look. This is bloody marvellous in the midfield. Shame Vettel decided the win at turn 1

Presume hard can go to the end

I thought 25-30 laps maybe a little more with fuel burned off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

    Rosberg is flying

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,977 ✭✭✭TheDoctor

Nearly at a point Hamilton could stick the hard on and go to the end

How far can he recover ? No chance of a podium with the red bulls going well I think. P5 at least but can he do the Ferrari?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,977 ✭✭✭TheDoctor

    Kimi right rear was wrecked

You're right, HAM, RIC & RAI all going to the end on hards. VES & ROS need to pit again

Seems like it, could have worked out better for him when it looked like Max was about to hit Kimi into the last corner.

    Max in the pits

    Another fastest lap for Hamilton.

    And again.

Hamilton is going to have to stop again!

Looks like he's trying to build up a gap now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Are the hards not holding up as expected for some people I wonder or is that just Ferrari being cautious

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,833 ✭✭✭CFlat

Yea Ham really gunning it now. Must be going for another stop.

    Brave move by Rosberg.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

    Rosberg up to 4th

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 852 ✭✭✭blackdog2

That was racy! Don't know what Brundle is on about, saying it was unfair

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,474 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Move was a bit foolish I thought, too much risk for Rosberg, might get penalty

    Nice to see Redbull fight

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

    Jaysus the Red Bulls!

Give over, he wants to win a World Championship & every point counts!

Max will be on the radio in a second :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,579 ✭✭✭prettyboy81

Stewards are a joke if any punishment handed out for that move!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,578 ✭✭✭Slutmonkey57b

Phenomenal stuff from Daniel after red bull screw him on strategy again.

Hang on, their front wheels touched while level - I can't see how Rosberg can be penalised for that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,579 ✭✭✭prettyboy81

    Red Bull stuff is riveting!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

That was a ballsy move from Rosberg. As DC said it was like a move you'd get from Hamilton. So colour me surprised to see it under investigation. I now expect Rosberg to be penalised because he is not Verstappen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,579 ✭✭✭prettyboy81

    Hamilton :D
