sur the right two men could run that office like a clock

one GOOD man could run the place (without any interference) and with
a chairman who had a good business head and a bit of respect for the suppliers.

our present gm announced at the last board meeting that he is stepping down. he only held this position for 3 years as the previous gm (who is nearly 80) is still in full control of the creamery. it won't be easy for the new gm to make a success of the creamery and get it thriving until the previous gm is removed for good from the building. it just doesn't work with two bosses in the office. the older man who is there over 50 years cannot and does not accept the fact that he isn't in control any longer. he still calls the shots.

does that mean this recruitment agency, BDO recruitment, have the full decision in appointing the new gm? it should be advertised in the national and local papers to give any prospective applicants a chance to apply. it's in the best interest of the co-op to try and get the right man for the job. the more that apply the better as there are plenty of well qualified and capable people out there. it's not Kerry co-op they are being asked to run.

No, BDO will facilitate the collection of the applicants and forward to the Co-Op board. It will be up to them to see who they see for interview.

Irishjobs.ie is a good source, but there may be other adverts.

It's in the best interest of the coop bosses to get the man they want, to manage and mold into their way of thinking. The man that will do the best job is not the man they want.

what went on at the co-op this morning ?

    moll3 this is what happened

a group of 20 farmers in total went up to the co-op. two of them approached the gm, dominic o connell, looking to meet and talk with him and the chairman, martin j. kennelly. they were told instantly to remove themselves from the premises or he was calling the gaurds. he gave them no hearing whatsoever. the two spokespeople just turned and left him and came back to the group. there was no intimidation as the main group stayed in the background and no one was there to cause trouble. it is unbelievable that the gm will not give the farmers any hearing and to add insult to injury to be told get off the property that they have shares in.
the farmers just left and went home after once again being refused their request to talk peacefully.
if people check out the photos on agriland they will see a hardworking and
highly respected group of farmers. some of the older members are not in the photo but were present in their cars and fair play to them for adding their support to the cause on such a bad day.
Chairman martin j. must be very proud of his 'quote' in agriland. calling them a 'rump of farmers' just shows the respect the co-op have for the suppliers. if it happened in any other business he would be forced to apologise and step down.
the point these farmers are making is that if everything is above board and there is nothing to hide why on earth can't they just meet and resolve this once and for all. therein lies the question

Farmers journal carried a hard hitting article today as did the kerrys eye can icos not step in to help resolve this

it is worth checking our Moyvane/Newtownsandes Farmers Alliance facebook page. the co-op seem to have a new spokesman. the following is the post put in by john scanlon and he cant sue us as it is there in black and white for everyone to read.

"The farmer journal knows and are I'm sure are embarrassed by it now about printing an article without No research been done.the accounts are there's for everyone to see and Moyvane can't take any responsibly for any one that can't read simple accounts.audited accounts by one of the top accountants don't lie.to everyone that hasn't seen the accounts they have been profitable every year even after given over two hundred and fifty thousand every year to the farmers in the parish.we are the envy of every co op in the country in terms of looking after the farmers and the vast majority of farmers know that and are very angry at a minority of farmers who claim to represent the farmers."

where is our chairman gone as id love to hear some more good quotes from him. to call the farmers 'a rump of farmers' must indeed be the quote of the year.
no matter how you try to bluff this one john i really don't think the farmers journal would publish anything without thoroughly checking its credibility knowing there could be legal issues at stake. and why kick off now about the figures quoted as THE DEALER already published this in their issue dated saturday 2nd July 2016. im sure you read it but just to refresh our minds this was it 'The co-op was loss-making in 2015 and '14, being about €120,000 in the red both years' end of quote.
go through the accounts again john and this time take off the blinkers.

I'm not in the detail here but the journal have made a few blunders in the past due to little due diligence. .. especially the dealer as there is no name behind that column

Moyvane village was no fun last night the problems at the co op dominated,it sounds like the alliance groupe has grown to nearly 30 suppliers out of 67 depending on who you talk to up to 65%of the milk pool, the chairman and majority of the board are turning a blind eye. There is a board meeting this week if they don't get ''satisfaction '' from the board one of them told me ''they will be actively exploring an alternative destination for their milk''. This has far reaching consequences for everyone in the parish and the surrounding areas. Can the co op keep afloat if they loose 10-20 suppliers? What if the younger more progressive suppliers leave ? Moyvane always had a great atmosphere but since these co op problems started there's tension the pubs are suffering many people just stay away. Can anyone try and resolve these issues between them local priest their wives SW was mentioned last night he handled the Paudie incedent amongst others ? These issues are threatening a way of life that is the heart and soul of their community when it's gone it's gone look at the other surrounding villages when the creamery declines the village goes with it usually the shops go first

Today's farming independent shines a bad light on management and the board general manager states farmers receive up 400k annually in bonuses and a senior board member stated 250k on facebook I think this will end badly for the community why won't someone mediate ?

What's to meditate. It's a democratic co-op. The group agitating have failed to get even one board member elected with a very small electorate so by definition haven't got support. Unless of course someone is playing fast and loose with the rules and stopping people getting on ballots or some other messing. If something like that id happening you still don't need a mediator. A guard maybe or the registrar of friendly societies but not a mediator.
