I havent seen a post in a while and I am considering getting some system so I can control my heating when I am out and about. Anyone else had a good experience with a paticular system that you might recommend.
    Thanks in advance

We got this installed a few weeks ago. It was free at the time with airtricity. It works well & I've no complaints. I just can't see myself spending 30 or 40 euro per year to be able to use my phone to turn it on. First year is free.

I got a Nest earlier this year, and I'm delighted with it so far.

I paid for it as I was already an Electric Ireland customer, but at the time they were installing it for free if you switched to them (you're tied into a two year contract). Not sure if that's still the case.

The only cost is upfront and/or the fact that you're tied into a contract so can't shop around for two years, after that it's free to use.

Have been using Heat Genius heatgenius.co.uk for the last 18 months & think its great. Allows control over the boiler itself as a basic starting point & can then add thermostatic valves to what ever radiators you want & control them individually as separate zones. Can start off with the basic system & add extra valves or sensors to it whenever you want.

Only problem is remembering to change battery on the valves when it tells you so they keep working.

I've had 2/3 systems. One was x10 , the app for that was ok.
The other was x10 with intruder alarm interface . I'd the Siemens app for this t was good, I'd my own little app made too it was good.

Over all though they were on off control

So for something that I could remotely alter the temp on and build up on I found the lightwaverf system very good.

You get a wireless time clock with a built in stat for about 60. The paired switch on the wall , 60 euro and the hub the sticks it online , 80 EURO

    Very easy to add to

I'm using the SmartZone system; it has an app and web interface, and I can either turn on by schedule, or manually, and set the desired temp from the phone. I can also just heat the water in the immersion, for a bath. Theres one thermostat per zone.

It's all wireless too, with the batteries in the units lasting up to two years - you can check the remaining % on the app. It was a clean install, around half a day
