Prepping car for NCT

I have a Toyota avensis 2002, it's over 200,000 miles and has a couple of things wrong.

    - Oil leak - have never been able to determine where it's coming from i've tried adding stuff which is supposed to fix rubber seals etc but this didn't make any difference. So I need to clean up as much as possible and hope it's not bad before NCT. What is the best product for doing this?

    - Exhaust - Between the catalytic converter and rear exhaust there is joint with a ring seal. This fell apart. I replaced the ring seal and bolted it back together but I've a feeling some exhaust is still escaping. It's a bit noisier than it shoud be. I don't want to spend money on new exhaust, any cheap way of fixing this up?

    - Drop link - One of the drop links was bad, could hear a noise at low speeds. The bolt is fused and wouldnt unscrew. It's half taken off and cable tied out of the way. I can fix this with a bit of elbow grease. Would it be an auto fail for something like that?

No offence, but shouldn't you be getting these issues fixed rather than trying to pull the wool over the n.c.t testers eyes?

    1. Jizer is quite good for cleaning oil from engine. Follow instructions on can.
    2. If the exhaust is leaking you will probably fail on emissions, even if they don't see the leak. A leak tends to upset the lambda reading.
    3. It will fail for a faulty or bodged drop link. It sounds like your car is currently not safe.

Best thing to do is put her through. The NCT will tell you what they require fixing.

NCT is not due till December. I intend on changing car next year so patch up solutions + temporary fixes are all I need.

Ill fix the drop link for sure.

I reckon if I clean up oil and seal the exhaust some how it should be OK... But I'm expecting to fail for the first time :(
