I am due to start a job in Dublin in the next two weeks. I will be working in the holles street/lower mount street area.
Does anyone know of what bus or route to take from Heuston station??

25B, 66A or 67, according to the national journey planner.

You can get the No. 25/27/66/67/66x buses that all go directly from Heuston to Merrion Square, every 3/4 minutes.

If the buses are on strike, you can get the Red Luas line from Heuston to Abbey Street, then you've an approx 25 minute walk to Merrion Square.

Otherwise (and I wouldn't recommend it starting off, or even for Winter Time), get a Dublin Bikes subscription, approx 30 euro per year and then free to rent a bike for up to half an hour to get around the city.

And in all cases, Google Maps is a great tool to have, so make sure you have that, the Luas App and the Dublin Bus apps installed on your phone.

Good luck in the new job!

Edit: Also, Irish Rail can be very unreliable at times, so always get a train that gives you a few minutes to spare before you're expected to be at work.

    The lists above are incomplete.

    From St John's Road:
25a, 25b to Merrion Square South
    25x, 51d, 51x, 66x, 67x to Baggot Street

    From front of Heuston Station:
145 to St Stephen's Green or Leeson Street

    From Parkgate St:
    25, 26, 66, 66a, 66b or 67 to Merrion Square

Download the Real Time app or look at the bus screens in the station concourse for live info.

The "X" routes operate at peak hour only.

They won't be stopping in heuston.

Presumably the OP is arriving into Heuston by train, so might have the option of starting their journey on a GCD bound train, or switching to one en route.

Or it could have been a landmark easily identifiable by someone from outside the city. Better to let him know what the option presented means, instead of just assuming it covers his needs and then being contentious, becuase someone mentioned it.

What are you on about. He's coming from Portarlington.

The train to Pearse will probably be your best option, when that service begins.

Hasn't the start of those trains been pushed back to the new year?

I randomly stuck in November 3 Portarlington to Pearse.

No one knew that before he said that, which was after you responded to me. So when you read my post again, it might make a bit more sense to you now.

No, your post makes no sense. Keep digging up though!

Irish rail said on Twitter that times currently on the website for gcd to Kildare are only test runs and they will be taken down soon.

yikes, that's a long commute and it still only barely gets into Pearse for 9 (I'd assume it will be 9 or later most days).

If the services are not confirmed then they should not be in the journey planner full stop. There is zero excuse for this.

To be honest that is ridiculous, even for Irish Rail. Most businesses have test websites that mirror the live but with test data for these purposes, not do such testing on the live environment.

When I searched for the same trip in October there are notices that it's only for beta testing. Not sure why they're not there for November too.

There are other (earlier) times too. Either way Portarlingon (Co Laois!) to Mount Street is going to be a long commute unless the OP gets a helicopter!

Better off driving it OP.. even part of the way - maybe to say Newlands Cross and get a LUAS the rest of the way (will still involve a walk though as well)

You should never test on a live environment.

All those trains have now been removed from the planner.
