A friend shared this post on FB a few minutes ago. Be warned; while the photos are of the dog in full health, the story it is absolutely heartbreaking. I was in tears. However, if you know the Rockfield Manor area and hear any talk about a damaged car, perhaps you'd let the lady know. Her details are in the FB post.

    Thank you.

    christ, thats a hard read.

There arent any distressing pictures in case people are afraid to click the link, but reading it is distressing enough.

I have just had a quick look at link, and note she has not stated that she has reported the incident to the Gardai.   As the dog was on the public road, walking beside the kerb the driver can argue that it was not under effective control which would leave the owner liable for any damage to the car.
The loss of the dog, Soskay, particularly in the way it involved the children is devastating but there is a lot of anger in message too.   Finding the driver will have little practical assistance, unless the lady is willing to make a statement with a view of allowing the Gardai to investigate if it was an incident of careless or dangerous driving etc.  If people do know of the car or driver they should be providing this information to the Gardai rather than directly to the lady.

Sad situation but the owner has no case here unfortunately. Dog should have been on the path.

Yes, the dog should generally have been walking on the path but if the road was clear and both child and dog had been crossing when the car rounded the corner on the wrong side of the road, the result could have been even worse.

As it was, the dog was beside the curb. The car was on the wrong side of the road and, by the description of the impact and its sound, going at a vastly excessive speed for a housing estate. The dog is "property" and as such the driver should not have left the scene of the accident until proper details had been exchanged/permitted to do so by gardai. That's completely aside from basic human decency.

All of that's beside the point. If anyone has knowledge of the car, the driver or the incident, please report that information to the gardai or contact the owner of the dog.

I really hope they find that a****. he hit the dog from behind, coming at high speed around a corner on the wrong side of the road. No case?? I'd like to see that with those witnesses.:mad::mad:
