    Hi all,

Just looking for advise on Air - water system I recently got quoted for. Apologies if I'm in the wrong forum, please move if so. Are Daikin one of the top and reliable brands for Heat pumps?

The quote includes the following for a 3000 sq ft house

Daikin 11kW Split System complete with Integrated 260ltr cylinder €8290 ex
    Installation & Commissioning €4,970 ex
    Downstairs Underfloor Heating 148 m2 €3256 ex
    Upstairs Underfloor Heating 134 m2 €2948

    Thanks for any advice

Id stick with conventional insulated. Your going to be looking at paying out 3/4 again in 10-15 years and that's if everything goes well. If it doesn't then it could be as little as 5 years.
OFCH and electric water heating is as cheap as chips if you start looking at capital writedown costs. Id supplement with air to air heat pumps in the living areas which are cheap give cops of 4-1 or higher and are instant with airconditioning if needed.
The air to water heatpumps are much better than the ground heatpumps which I think their selling point was the thought of digging up huge amounts of space to put a lot of piping down. Never really met the potential in reality.

Thanks for response Lomb. The house will be conventionally insulated. Do you mean with this setup the heat pump will last 10/15 years?

I would be very interested to hear about the performance and reliability of the above heat pump from any owners either by PM or post.

    Hi,
I’ve had a Daikin altherma unit for central heating and hot water running since 2011. Unit is very reliable only issue I’ve had is an expansion vessel failure. Total cost of heat light and cooking comes in a just less than 2k last 6 Years. 350m houses split level 2 adults 2 kids.
    Hope it helps

Hi just wondering if anyone can help me. Daikin installed and working when stats call for heat. Question I have is the pump seems to be on when stats are not calling. When on weather dependent mode it heats water to day 30 degrees and pumps it around underfloor. But if stats are not calling actuators are closed why is pump running always

Is the water storage set to keep the domestic hot water in the tank at 45 degrees rather than to heat overnight? This can cause the pump to work when your not expecting it to

Yeah it’s set to reheat to 48 degrees. Hot water is working fine and so is heating when it’s demanded from stats. It’s just when no heating or hot water demand my pump still runs. Compressor is off but pump runs.
If my weather dependent mode wants a temp of 37 degrees for example it will heat to that temp and pump it around when no demand
