I don't blame her. She's just one idiot.

Blame the goons following her on snapchat and as usual blame the rag masquerading as a newspaper that is the independent.
Finally blame yourself for clicking on the link and for posting it here so that others would click on it.

What gets me is who would want to be seeing pictures of the baby getting born apart from, maybe, an absent father?
They are not exactly like seeing pictures of you having a Pina Colada on the beach in Tenerife.

I don't mind watching the concepting, but not this :)

True, that's the worst thing about click-bait - discussing it without clicking the link - I should have just quoted the whole article.

I could think of nothing better than on a Sunday afternoon, inviting family and friends around for lunch, then sit down with a few drinks watching the wife, legs apart, giving birth on the 60 inch surround sound TV...

Thank fcuk I'm not on Snapchat and have no intention of ever being either. It appears to be only for the severely mentally challenged.

Indeed, or maybe a 3D or curved 60" TV for that more immersive experience!

Reminds me of that awful picture that Robbie Williams put up of his wife who looked like she was in agony in labour and him standing there with a big smiley face posing for the camera!

Thanks you bastard. You've just had me snort tea out my nostrils. :D

As for birth? No thanks. A bloody and snot covered homunculus being fired out of a distended lady part with attendant gurning, farting and pooing I can well do without. Nurse! The screens! The screens!

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

'Suppose after years of people posting pictures of what they are having for dinner, selfies and endless pictures of cats it eventually had to sink to a new level of "..look at me"

I wonder about the priorities of people who do things like this. Birth and death are the two great private human events, both of them we do profoundly alone, but now they can be viewed by thousands if not millions of 'followers' for likes after being publicized by a third party. It detracts from the dignity of both, imo.

When my God Father died last year his sons were posting pictures of him (in his prime with RIP caption) on facebook within minutes of his death. The death was expected...but it felt like they had their fingers on the 'post' button waiting for the moment.
Each to their own but to me it seemed very odd to do that so soon after his death. What was the rush?
Just take a few moments to absorb the life changing event for fecks sake.

Jesus, did they even know how he would have felt about images of himself while dead being made public? I think it's a very tasteless and insensitive thing to do, and that's apart from affording him dignity and consideration in death.

I'm sorry if that sounds insensitive to you Winterlong, I'm sure you love them but that's outrageous to me.

Oh sorry, I should have said - the images were not of the dead corpse. They were images of him in his prime with the caption RIP.

The whole likes whoring way of life has gone so far past the normal realms of privacy it's not even funny.

You can picture the idiots at home, eyes lighting up with glee as the Facebook notifications roll in after posting the video of their dinner/kid singing/dog taking a crap.

It's seriously an addiction for a lot of these attention whores.

Ps, please like my post :o

    Phew! :)

That said, I've seen people posting pics of themselves beside their dying granny or grandad, complete with martyred expressions and captions like 'I'll miss you granny, see you in heaven' and other such attention-seeking bilge.

I suspect most of them didn't visit their grandparents from one end of the year to the other, too.

Sigh. She didn't "live snapchat" the birth, nor did she say she was going to. She mentioned that she was getting some contractions, then that she was going in, then there were a few selfies from the hospital bed, then about an hour after the baby was born she posted a quick photo of the baby's hand and mentioned it was a girl. The "Blogger films birth live!" headlines were pure clickbait, if that tempers your outrage at all. She actually seems like a really down-to-earth girl, one of the few Irish Bloggers who does.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,517 ✭✭✭Sunny Dayz

It's not a bit surprising with her! I use to follow her before but had to stop - she literally snapchatted every minute of her day. She would snap as soon as she woke up in the morning and her voice would be still croakey. She would snap as soon as she got out of the shower wrapped up in towels still dripping. She snapped all day but never really had anything interesting to say.

Stopped following her when I realised how much of MY time she was wasting. Haven't followed her through her pregnancy but I'm assuming she's got sent loads of free stuff and will get loads more sent to her.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,090 ✭✭✭livinsane

I haven't been following this but I like that videos of childbirth are available online. For someone who's pregnant, it's actually really useful to see a real birth. Stories like this wouldn't have interested me before but now that I'm expecting my second baby in a few weeks, I like seeing positive stories on childbirth rather than the fear inducing horror ones.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,154 ✭✭✭Dolbert

There was no footage of the birth at all. People are reacting to nothing.

From reading the posts here, people know nothing about the girl or what she actually put up on snapchat. But do go on judging a story and a girl without knowing the actual facts whilst thinking you're all great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,453 ✭✭✭ceadaoin.

There's nothing shameful about childbirth. Maybe it would be good for pregnant women to see a realistic portrayal. But as was pointed out above, she didn't actually snapchat the birth live so it's all irrelevant.

Is that like when they draw rough pictures of what the baby will look like?

I used to like social media until people started posting everything from the bedroom to the bathroom, now I just ignore it. I think people can take it too far at times posting ****e but then if it makes them happy let them at it.
This is all about publicity for this blogger don't forget, she is no fool.

To be fair, there's photo's of the dad on the news story.
