Moved abroad but should I go home?

I'll try to keep this as short as possible. I've moved abroad to North America and I'm living here 5 months.

I do enjoy it here but I'm struggling with a health issue at the min. It's not a life treating health issue but it is something that I've dealth with for the past 3 years and it has only gotten worse since I got here. I've lost so much weight since I arrived here and feel very unhealthy most days. Some days are so bad that I'm lying in bed most of the day or I don't feel like doing anything with my friends. I tried to get surgery to correct the issue before I got here but I wouldn't have gotten it in time before my visa expired.

Although some days are really bad, some days are really good. It's a very difficult issue to manage at times but sometimes I do have good days.

I'm just torn between staying here and feeling crappy most of the time but enjoying my good days, or going home and getting the issue sorted. I don't want to regret leaving especially now that I have a job and am living with most of my best friends from home.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can make a decision?

Just to give a background I'm a male in my mid 20s and my visa is only for 2 years.

I can honestly say if it was me and I was your age I'd be on the first flight home. That doesn't sound enjoyable being laid up sick most days you sound like you're suffering. You should move home and sort your health out. Then you can travel again. You're writing this message I think you know yourself what's best for you. Take care look after yourself.

Sounds like you're harming your health in the long term by trying to power through... hard to call it not knowing what it is but if you have no chance of having the op done over there, yes I would return to sort myself out. Your health is a priority.
What happens if you break down and cannot work, I presume you are not insured?

Go home OP. America will still be there when you're better. No point being there if you're not enjoying it due to your health issues.

Interesting. I was told I have really bad acid reflux and was warned about letting it go too long without treatment due to the acid damaging my esophagus...OP, I didn't have this back home in Ireland. I started 4 months after I got here....it was horrible. It's getting a little better. I think it's worse with stress. (I'm in the US).

Canada is a lot different than the US. In the US, I don't pursue a long term solution any more because the next steps would cost me a small fortune. I've been prescribed medication and treatments, nothing has helped. Less stress seems to lessen the effects. Also, funny enough..when I go home to Ireland, I don't get it. I think common ingredients here may be messing me up.

Good luck getting sorted! If being in Canada is stressful for you, I'd say go home.
