Best spot for a boozy weekend

    Hey folks,

A group of friends are looking for a fresh location for a weekend away in mid-November and were thinking Wexford would be a suitable one for us all to get to.

We'd be a group of 8 or so and would essentially be looking for somewhere with a few nice pubs with a bit of atmosphere, a few places to pick from for accommodation and something that might keep us entertained for a few hours one of the days (brewery/distillery tour, race meeting, whatever).

Would we be best heading to Wexford town for all of the above, or would the likes of Gorey, New Ross or Enniscorthy be any better?

And any suggestions for places to stay, eat and drink are very much welcome too!

    Thanks in advance

    Wexford town ....maybe Gorey.
Nothing to do in Enniscorthy or New Ross really.
Not being tribal...I'm from scorthy and it's a dead town

If you are Dubs, you're not going to hear any new accents in Gorey

Wexford Races are on over the Oct Bank Holiday weekend.

Sky & the Ground and Lamberts both do craft beers.

Monck Street is where most of late bars are.

Bugler Doyles might be an option for accomodation,it's a B&B and a decent pub underneath. It is also on the main st. so you can't get lost.

Thanks folks - looks like the town would be the best option so!

Saw that - shame; had a great day at Kilbeggan a few months back so looking for a chance to do something similar elsewhere.

Wexford Town is the only place from the list you provided that I would go to.

    Pubs

    Monck St:
    Maggie Mays
    The Crown
    Loch & Quay

    Main St:
Simon Lamberts (though I wouldn't recco going in boozed up)
    Bugler Doyles
    Kellys on the Corner
    Sky & The Ground

    Clubs

    The Stores

    Enjoy.!

 because they have lovely brews of their own?

In my experience (and I love the place) it wouldn't be a place to go in as a bunch of lads, half tanked and getting fully tanked in, at least in comparison to other pubs.

They have some strong craft brews. Local sport is to see hardy lads with beers already on board announce to their mates that they 'can handle their ale' and start knocking the stuff back. Asleep or dribbling within the hour.

    Great, thanks for the recommendations.

You say the town is the best place from where I listed - is there somewhere else I'm missing out on altogether?

I'll be sure to throw an eye to the ABV if I find myself there!

The staff usually only sell the strong ones by the half pint. Enjoy
