    Hi all

I have a flat roof at the side of the house - garage now converted to a room.

How would I go about putting a zinc cladding surround on to improve its appearance? Maybe a foot in height. Would like to tackle it myself.

No issues with the flashing or integrity of the flat roof and don't want to go messing around with that bit of possible.

    Thank you.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

What you need to do is make a timber frame standing upright around the outside edge of the roof to attach your metal to.

Get a roll of zinc/copper, I've only ever used copper, cut it to size, and use timber as a straight edge to get your folds. In your case roughly 1 foot high and 2 foot wide be easy to work with, you will lose a few inches top and bottom for folds so allow for that when choosing width of roll.

The seam goes together by folding one side up 1 inch (right side), the other side 1 and half inch (left side), the two pieces butt jointed, one side is half inch higher than the other, fold the half inch down over the 1 inch side, then the whole lot down flat onto the upright.

Sorry I can't post pics or links, but it's fairly straight forward once you get the gist of it.

Have a look at this video, it's the same principle, but instead of long lengths you'll only be cutting them similar to what he has in his hand at 6:50, hope this helps.
