Deseperately trying to achieve this "film" look in Lightroom

Am in love with the look of some of these pics, the film matte effect & the blues that really pop.
I've a ton of lightroom presets to use as a starting point like the VSCO packs etc but am really failing when it comes to nailing both the matte & the look of blues - any advice on how to achieve this look or what presets are available that can help me on my way?
I was at the same event so have many similar pics but seeing this guys work has made me really want to try & emulate that look.
    Thanks Guys!

Don't know if you know this already, but under the HSL/Color/B&W tab you can select a point in the photo for selective editing and boost the saturation of that colour only. The matte effect I'd guess is a hint of desaturation and clipped blacks (pull the left side of the tone curve up a little). Have a look a the settings in your favourite presets.

I actually wasn't aware you can select a specific point in Lightroom & have the HSL sliders affect that only, how is it done?
Google keeps throwing up how to make "selective colour" pics when I search for info

    This is the selector -

Click it and then click on a point in the photo and drag up or down to alter the H S or L of that colour.

The blacks have been clipped (as said above) and the blues look to have been shifted to cyan (this can be done by playing with the Hue & Saturation sliders of the blue channel in the Camera Calibration tool).

But OP, you may have been at the same event, but did you take advantage of the same lighting situations and expose & compose your images in a similar manner to the photographer you're trying to emulate? If not then you may be out of luck.

Trying to force someone else's editing process onto your images will often yield disappointing results, simply because your images are different. Try to enhance the strengths of your images and don't fret about them looking a certain way. A good photo will always be a good photo, regardless of what filter or look was applied to it.

I say this as someone that wasted many hours tumbling down similar rabbit holes over the years.
