The Fighting Prince of Donegal DVD

    Hi,

I'm trying to track down a copy of 'The Fighting Prince of Donegal', the 1966 Disney movie about Red Hugh O'Donnell. I've tried to buy a copy from the Disney Store, but can't get past the 'Province' field, and would still have to figure out a practical way of playing a R1 DVD.

Does anyone know where I could track one down? Does anyone have a good copy which I could borrow?

It's actually going to be used as part of a small arts festival in Donegal called the Allingham Festival which takes place in November. A lecturer from Canterbury College first saw the film back on general release in 66 or 67, and was struck by the use of English countryside to represent Donegal, similar to the way Skellig Michael and Malin Head are now used to represent the home of the first Jedi temple in Star Wars today! He (Kenneth Fox) is returning to Ballyshannon to discuss this, and we thought it would be cool to screen the film again too, but now it's proving difficult to get a copy.

PM me if you're interested in letting us borrow or buy it.

    Thanks

What do you mean "a practical way of playing a R1 DVD" most DVD players are multi region so you would have no problem playing an imported R1 disc.

As for the film itself they are several DVD's on sale on Ebay here is one for 30 Euro http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fighting-Prince-of-Donegal-DVD-Peter-McEnery-NEW-Disney-Movie-Club-/311700510925?hash=item4892cc58cd:g:KNcAAOSwiLdWAdE9

    Hi,

Thanks for the link. I missed that. I'm in the process of purchasing it, once the seller gives me a quote.

DVD players are less easy to find these days, so finding one capable of playing R1 will prove less easy than several years back.

    Thanks again!

How did you get on with the purchase? It looks like it's not the only 'Donegal' film on IMDB
