My car is in for a wiper motor repair and I think I'm being stung for add ons by the garage, I got to the garage late this evening, as they held on to the car for what seemed like a very long time for such a simple task, and their technician had a computer hooked up to the car scanning the ECU when I arrived there, and couldn't start the car, I asked him about it and he gave it the whole "never seen it before" jib.

So I think they are trying to make some easy money or could changing the wiper motor fry the ecu. The car is turning over but the ignition is not firing up like the immobiliser is blocking it.

Should I get the car out of there asap tomorrow ? and just get someone else to fix it.

What was the problem with the wipers?

It wasn't the wipers it was the wiper motor, the wipers started to go slow this morning so i left the car into them, and they said the motor was gone/going.

My cousin brought his qashqui, or as I call him the "gash guy" in to the dealers for a broken wiper linkage.
    They wanted 400+
He got the parts on ebay for 7 quid

Be didnt get a wiper linkage on ebay for €7. Maybe a few clips that will do as a temporary solution.

Or maybe a few clips that will be a perfectly adequate long term fix and should perhaps be offered by the dealer as a repair kit.
I'm not familiar with the qashqai fix but the primera had a linkage problem that was very repairable with a little kit.

So could it have been the linkage that was repaired on my car, would that interfere with the ECU.

OP there is a chance that the garage have messed something up but there is also the chance it is a coincidence! I had a 2009 Corsa dropped to me for a blower motor and it wouldn't start when I went to move it into the workshop, ecu had blown a transistor and despite the fact I hadn't touched the car at this point it "looked bad". Owner was cool about it but you need to be sure what situation you are dealing with before you go in all gun ho

Cheers, yeah exactly want to get my information correct, but the last thing i need is a big bill at the moment, the wiper motors were purchased from a breakers yard, could they have a fault that would trigger this.

He picked just about the worst thread to extol the virtues of the A4, they are notorious for wiper seizure! :D

    Anything is possible.

If it's electrical the garage may be stumped. Diagnostics often don't point them in direction of small problems.

It's likely a small issue if it's cranking and turning over... they'll probably have a network of contacts... I'd ask them what their plan is.
