Coo only works on 4 cylinder. Your 1.4 is 3 cylinder so it'll only go "baa" - which just sounds silly.

What year is it? and what bhp?
The first of the three cylinder tdi's (75bhp) didn't have a vnt turbo therefore they won't coo with a straight pipe same reason a 90bhp golf won't coo.
The 90bhp three cylinder tdi's do have a vnt turbo so I'm assuming these will coo with a straight pipe.
Nothing to do with number of cylinders it's all down to the type of turbo VNT vs old school non variable vain waste gate

colm the vnt turbo's make a turbo stall noise when straight piped
All the number of cylinders does is changes the engine note for example its harder to hear a "coo" if its a straight 6 engine or v6 as the engine note is louder

Not this old chestnut. A straight 6 diesel will only make a "moo" noise.

On a V6 with the banked cylinders you get a "coo coo" sound.

Why are people still confused over this.

Is the coo coo sound you're referring to "turbo flutter"?
If so its caused by air flowing back through the turbo compressor making a fluttering sound not cylinder layout.

Look I'm only trying to answer the newly registered op's question if we turn it into a thread taking the p1ss outta him/her its not exactly a great advertisement for boards.

If the op was asking for my own opinion then I'd be advising them to not bother with a straight pipe as they no longer pass an nct and are more hassle then it's worth perhaps just change the back box to change the engine note slightly but tbh them 3 cylinder vag tdi engines will always sound poor.

Plenty of cars used as henhouses so I'm sure pigeons would live in one too

Reverse google image it to find the supplier.

Should do nicely. Looks like he's got a nice deep baritone to go with a Cordoba.
