I work in a UK owned cinema chain in Dublin for the last 6 months. I'm 23 years of age and I have worked 4 years full time. Since day 1 I've been on €8.65 rather than €9.15.

The job itself is nothing I haven't done before. It's essentially split in to two different areas, one being a concession stand (serving food + drink, selling tickets and general cleaning duties), the other is cleaning toilets and screens.

For the first 3 months I was left doing the cleaning shifts regardless of my relevant experience working on a till. After that you get "trained" on to tills, which really isn't training at all unless this is your first ever job. The work itself is as bog standard as it gets.

So when I originally noticed that I wasn't being paid correctly, I asked one of my four managers why it was so. They told me that after my 3 months probationary period, I will be once my training log is complete.

So this training log consists of simple questions around like IDing someone for alcohol, how someone can make a payment through different forms etc. As I've said before literally nothing new. Now if you were to do this training log without stopping, it would take 20 minutes or so. The catch is that it can't be fully completed without having 'x' amount of shifts completed working on the tills (which they allocate very conservatively).

So when I had my log 90% done besides the 'x' amounts of shifts. It suddenly went missing from the place it was kept (in an open kitchen). I was blamed for it, even though it wouldn't benefit me to take it as the work needs to be completed under the supervision of another worker. It then miraculously reappeared a little over a week later.

As I've been in contact with Citizens Information to reassure that I'm correct on this matter (which they did), I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a route I can take to regain the difference in pay since day 1 (it's over €300 before tax) and how to regain the extra .50 cents from here on out?

If anyone could also recommend who else I should contact over this incident if speaking with management directly fails or before I speak to them again directly, I'd be very grateful.

On another note, if anyone can explain where I may be in the wrong then I'm all ears. I can add more information if it's needed.
