Property Tax not paid by vendor

I purchased a property last year - the sale closed in June 2015.
The vendor was supposed to have paid the full sum of property tax for 2015, so my solicitor ensured that I reimbursed them 1/2 the amount to cover the tax for July - December 2015.
All this seemed reasonable. However, after the sale closed, I since found out that the vendor had never paid any property tax at all for 2014 or 2015. The outstanding amount is over €500.
I have contacted my solicitor, who isn't really interested in following up, as his file is closed.

As far as I understand, I'm not actually liable for the 2014 and 2015 tax per se, but if I want to sell the property in future, it will come up as an issue if the purchaser has a more competent solicitor than my own was.

Do I have any redress against my solicitor, or there anything I can do to get the vendor to pay the outstanding tax at this stage?

Not legal advice - just a view on the issue.

The fact that his file is closed is utterly irrelevant if he has been professionally negligent

I thought that these matters were all supposed to be checked and verified by the purchaser's solicitor before allowing the client to complete the purchase.

Sorry, matter for legal advice. This forum does not allow that
