Heartiest congratulations to Kilkenny on a great double in the 2016 Senior and Intermediate Camogie Finals.

Commiserations to Cork on providing such wonderful competition and on being great champions over the last two years.

good to see the Cats winning again after a barren spell.
One question in relation to the matches yesterday, is it against the rules to drop your hurley, like it is in the men's game? I counted about 5 times in the senior game where the hurley was dropped, resulting in a subsequent hand pass (sometimes a double handed pass, like gaelic football).
I also saw this in the intermediate match. The referee in both games didn't blow the whistle for any of these occasions.

You are allowed drop your hurl in camogie. One of the few rule differences between the games. Other main ones include :
    - being allowed to play your opponents hurl.
    - being allowed to handpass a goal
    - puck outs to be taken from 14 after a score
-technically no jossels allowed but the game is getting more physical

ah right, wow, I didn't know about the dropping of the hurl one, thanks. Here's me yesterday shouting at the TV as to why the ref wasn't blowing up this clear infringement :o

I think they should remove the jossels and hand pass into the goal rules, just my personal opinion. The skill levels are high enough to disallow a hand pass into the goal.

I completely agree the sooner camogie and hurling rules become the same the better, cause atm the two rules you mention just make a joke out of camogie and as you say it's not like the old days, girls are just as skilful, fit, strong and professional as their male counterparts to play by the same rules

I go to a lot of camogie games and have the height of respect for the game and it's players. But comments like that are just patronising. They're at a much lower standard and there's nothing wrong with that. They get mocked very unfairly by people who haven't a clue about the game for being a pedestrian standard - this isn't remotely true. But saying that they're at the same skill level or strength as the guys is ridiculous.
