toilet buying - cheap or expensive?

    We are looking to buy a new toilet for a new en-suite. From looking in shops and online there is a huge variation in prices, from approx €80 in B&Q to €600 or €700.
    Is there really that much difference in performance between toilets, or is the price just for the styling? Really just want a standard toilet so not sure why we wouldn't just go with the cheapest we can get? If the mechanisms are likely to be an issue we could easily just swap these out for a new fluidmaster system before fitting.

    It's mainly the flush mechanism that goes on the b & q wc - not sure if you can swap it out with something else though?

    This is where the law of dimishing returns really kicks in.
    Cheap and cheerful for sub 100 euro can often be just fine, but more often than not may have some minor moulding flaws. Fitting a Fluidmaster cistern kit to a cheap cistern will usually sort out any issues with filling and flushing.
    100 to 200 euro will get you more design variety and usually better mould quality. Over 200 euro you tend to be just paying for styling or the name tag, with the exception of hung units and the frames.
    Personally I believe its a waste of good money paying anything over 400 euro for a wc and cistern.
