My dad needs a new car for his hackney business because of the new age restriction on hackney/taxi cars.
Just wanted something very basic that was the correct year.

    Found this
    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/skoda-octavia/13038311
We test drove it and it actually seemed ok .

Luckily I got an online report this morning as we were seriously considering it.

My first encounter with a clocked car.
Report it to donedeal including your report and they will take the ad down.

Already done just putting it up here on the chance that someone else may be looking at it.

What is the significance of 214,000 miles showing for both Oct 2014 and Oct 2015?

I have never had recourse to such a report so never saw one previously.

Oct 2014 is down twice with the same reading of 214,000
Then by Oct 2015 it had 241,000

Plenty of poor suckers out there who will buy it as they either won't suspect it or won't want to bankroll a €20 history check when spending thousands on a car.

Ad gone now, donedeal are quick to respond so that's good to see.

And yes unfortunately the majority won't pay for a history check.

Is there any odometer check available on Irish cars?
If this was an Irish car my dad would probably be the owner of a heavily clocked car :(

Can I ask how much that report was. Seemed better than one I got 3 years ago . I paid about 8 euros for mine

€18 which is a bit steep but still well worth it, especially in this case.

Did you ask the seller re the inaccurate miles?

A man is rich in proportion to the number of things which he can afford to let alone.

Absolutely , and even if car was perfect that be nice to have in service history when coming to sell. Plus handy to know what's been done to car .

Mine just had millage and money owed on it . well worth the 18 squids

It was my dad who was in contact with him and as far as I know he has not. There were 2 previous owers in the UK so I image the current owner will lay the blame with them.

Not an official one but the NCT the last 2-3 years or so have started recording it, they print the last 3 odometer readings from previous NCT's on the NCT disc itself.
