Just got scammed for doing the attic insulation yesterday and hope others won't meet these guys!!

I googled for insulation and met their company website which looks professional. Then I called for quote and the other day a guy from this company dropped in and offered a very low price and said that's because they doing job next street so there is material left anyway.

They left material and brochure and btw the insulation material in brochure is -snip-(pm Poster) .

Then next morning the guy called me for 4/5 times and said the work need done today as they will go somewhere else faraway for another job.

After work done by 5pm, the boss turned up and asked for 2,400euros for that!

    ==================

    1. There is company website in google and it's still there! But if you google the company address, it's a business park which sold years ago and there is no contact number you can reach to the business park.

    2. For the guy who dropped in and talked me on phone Never turned up during whole work so even you got their mobile number, it's nothing.

    3. The insulation material of -snip- in the brochure, if you google, you will find the website is in French and no more useful information. Besides, if you dial the contact number in the brochure for material, then it's invalid.

why I fooled by these guys?

    1. the price offered sounds irresistible, generally they will tell you it cost like three twenty four, but after the work they will say "it's three twenty hundred!".

    2. They make you rush into decision like they will work elsewhere or others is also looking for the offer so it's between you and others, blablabla.

so just take care of this and never pay by cash without any invoice!

Did you pay them? If so why? Did they not give you a written quote?

Yes, not 2400 but still high over what they done.
Firstly the boss said the material is thousand euros, yes I doubted then but it was after 5pm so you can't call out to check if it's true as all business closed then. Actually if I doubt the times is also part of their trick.
No written quote, it's stupid I know.

Why I trust them as there is company website and leaflet and brochure, all looks professional. And as I worked that night and following morning so no time to check more details like : company address. I should check the brochure of insulation material as well.

There's always one..and OP I'm sorry it was you.

Never be in any rush from anyone to get anything done.

I had somebody call on Saturday looking to powerhose the drive and all the window sills. A one off price today of €100. I told him I'd think about it.
He did a couple of other neighbours and to be fair he did a very good job. He called later when I was away and told my wife it was a one day only price of €150!!
Unfortunately my 7 year old piped up and said "you told my dad it was €100"!!

The wife let him at it for €100 and again to be fair he did a very good job.
