Hyundai i30 v i10

Have an i10 for about six months as I wasn't expecting to use it except in city. Fuel efficiency very poor considering engine size and little or no ac use - generally about 40 mpg. Get it up to about 42 with a few long drives on motorway - say 200 km. Very high standard internal and external finishes imho although obviously all plactic/vinyl fascia etc
How does the i30 compare apart from obviously being bigger? To trade up from i10 to i30, both 2014, what should I expect to pay for reasonably low mileage say 30k km.

They're completely different cars. 40mpg around town isn't too bad.
There is the i20 in between too.
The newer i30 have a 1.4 petrol or 1.4 diesel. The old model has a 1.6 diesel.
The diesel i30 should give better mpg on the motorway than the i10

The i30 will obviously be bigger. It's more comfortable and quieter too.

You really need to match up your usage to your car and don't spend thousands in order to get a few mpg extra.

    The above is wrong.

The new i30 has the 1.6 diesel and the old i30 has the 1.4 diesel. The 1.4 petrol is available and is 270 e to tax. Youll get roughly 40 to 45mpg from the petrol i30. A 142 retails at about 14 to 15k. Expect about 8 to 9 for your i10.

Sounds like you need an i20!

The i20 is fairly forgotten about in the Hyundai fleet but is actually quite a good car.

The op is looking at 2014 cars, the old model is the one that came out in 2007. This only had 1.6 and 2.0 diesel options. That said I think they stopped doing these around 2012 so they probably wouldn't be on the OPs radar. That was the old model I was on about.

The new model ones that they'd be looking at would be 1.4 though

    This is still incorrect.

I never mentioned the 207 model and I'm fully aware that the OP is looking for a 2014 car. The Mk2 i30 as launched in 2012 and had 1.4 diesel and petrol engine options, 20 diesel was available too. The Mk2 Facelift model was launched in mid 2015 which came with the 1.6 diesel however the 1.6 diesel was also sold in the pre face lift mk2 i30 in late 2014 along with te 1.4 diesel until about 2013.

The 1.4 diesel engine no longer sold after 2014.

A simple trip to the Hyundai.ie website will tell you that!

OP, becareful o the mis-information by the above poster

Pardon me, I thought the newer model had a 1.4 only for some reason.

How is this 2013 a 1.6 then (loads more on carzone too). They were available before late 2014.

Jaysus, some mileage on that i30.

    70,000km in 3 years

Yes the facelift Mk2 i30 was launched in late 2014.

But I thought you said there was no 1.6 before late 2014?
