Electrics causing lack of power

I have a 02 2.0L vitara. Ive noticed sometimes that the car lacks power but couldn't pin point why.
So I've figured it out and when the lights, wipers, hearing etc are on (2 or more usually noticeable) the car lacks power. Last night I had heating and lights on and boot to the floor with no acceleration. When I turned both off it felt like I dropped a gear. Did this multiple times and it seems to be the problem.
Didn't get a change to test the alternator yet.

Anyone know what it might be thats making this happen? Thanks

Sounds like the battery is on the way out, when was it last replaced?

I'd say it's the battery then unless the car is 6 months old.

02 so far from new.. will a multi meter show if the battery is failing?

Anything near or below 10v on a 12v car battery indicates the battery is a goner. To really know if the battery is after giving up the ghost read the Ah if at all possible.
