Illness Benefit - Careers allowance

Hi all. I'm working in office with Invoices, deliveries, etc... I'm currently on Illness benefit for over year, struggling with condition where my concentration and memory is on low level for facts or numbers. My son was diagnosed last year with autism (we know he has it for more than 3 years) and he needs me full time at home. My question is, can I quit my job while I'm on Illness benefit? Or I have to return to work, quit my job and then I can apply for example for Careers allowance? Thank you.
