Where could I find out if it would be legal for a company to give only 20 hours notice to workers that they would be missing 4 days wages in September because the business was closing because of a bus strike? Should I join SIPTU and email them?

What does your contract say?

Wouldn't bother with a union. It's their fault you are losing 4 days wages.
