Is it worth studying a BTEC in engineering

    Hello.
I have a science degree and worked in my field for around 3 years until the end of last year when I moved back to Ireland for a new job which fell through leaving me unemployed since.
I had been working in the same area since 2009 while doing my degree.
I'm actually a bit bored of what I do anyway and I'd like to move into the maintenance and installation side of things. Always been jealous of the service and sales engineers who got to travel to different sites and solve and fix different things. I'm a technically minded person and when I was younger did about two years as an apprentice mechanic. In my last few jobs I seemed to take on the role of second engineer anyway sorting things myself when the site engineer was to busy/cba .
Really what I want to do is move into the maintenance and installation side of my industry. Can anyone give any insights as to whether an online BTEC Certicate or diploma could help with this?
There doesn't seem to be many online electrical or mechanical engineering courses anywhere :(
    TY
